The Arabian Horse At Al Naslaa
THE CRYPTIC ROCK FORMATION
GOLDEN HOUR AT AL NASLAA
The beautiful landscape at Al Naslaa a treat to the eyes of a weary traveller.
A very interesting story followed us on arrival at Al Naslaa. We reached around 5pm in the evening after refueling at the petrol station at AL Ulla, the usual stop after a long 4 hour drive from Yanbu. Heading into the desert at Taymaa towards Al Naslaa, was a very easy drive. Once on to the track you get the right paths if you are observant and they ultimately lead you on to your destination. We reached the place at the right time, unloaded a few of our gear and set up to click some pictures.
Around 5:30 we saw a pick up truck making its way to the Split rock and we knew we had company. We are always a bit overwhelmed and edgy when ever you see strangers, who maybe fellow campers, tourists, locals and the bedouins who stay right around the spot with family and live stock. These were a group of 3 guys all family, a father, brother and his brother-in-law. They all came to have a break at the desert and decided to pitch their camp right in front of the Split rock. They called us over for tea and biscuits and some Arabic coffee.
They introduced themselves and we also told them who and where we were from, and they were surprised and eager to know we had travelled all the way from Yanbu 525 kms away and were camping here in the middle of nowhere. They were also taking some pictures and trying different compositions with the available tea pots for creating the ambience of the evening. Then we also asked them to join in to click some family pictures and they obliged wholeheartedly and got a few snaps for posterity.
One among them is a teacher of geography and the father is employed with the local Municipality and the third is a computer operator in the local government office.
